The recognition distinguishes the areas of the territory with the highest quality night skies and represents a new boost for sustainable development, ecotourism, and the fight against rural depopulation. The Sky Quality Office of the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia was responsible for carrying out the study on the quality of the Geopark’s night skies, which served as the Provincial Council’s scientific and technical reference document for requesting this certification.
