Open Science Day SOMM Alliance

One of the Work Packages of SOMMa addresses Open Science and Citizen Science, coordinated by ICTA-UAB. One of the working groups participating of this has now organised in the context of the Working Group on Open Science within SOMMA. This particular event is organised by BCAM and DTIC-UPF.

During the first part of the event, Malcolm Bain (DTIC-UPF) will present actions carried out within the María de Maeztu DTIC-UPF to ensure compliance of ongoing projects with GDPR. A general practical protocol for research projects processing personal data will be presented. Its aim is to ensuring not just legal compliance but also efficient use and re-use of data within legally established limits.

A debate will be started about how datasets incorporating personal data may be used within Open Science oriented projects. A brief introduction of the participants and selected OS activities in SOMMa will follow, by Aurelio Ruiz (DTIC-UPF). Discussion will follow on how Open Science can be incentivised when assessing research organisations in programs such as the centres and units of excellence Severo Ochoa and María Maeztu?

After an introduction about the state of Open Science in Spain by Pilar Rico (FECYT), two case studies will be considered: Contributing to EU policy, conducted by Michela Bertero (CRG), and Distributing internal resources using Open Science criteria, by.Xavier Serra (DTIC-UPF). In the end, a meeting of the SOMMa Open Science Working Group will take place.
