Project Researcher (2 positions) (KTT 2023-03/04)

The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking 2 Project Researchers to work at the Innovation and Valorization Laboratory (CSOL-ICIQ). This position will be funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and the European Union "NextGeneration EU"/PRTREl within the project CPP2022-009643.

ICIQ is committed to performing excellent research at the frontier of knowledge in the broad area of chemistry (Catalysis, Artificial Photosynthesis, Activation of Small Molecules, Photovoltaics, Functional Molecular Assemblies and Chemical Biology, from either theoretical or experimental perspectives). ICIQ is looking for 2 Project Researchers with experience in synthetic organic chemistry to work at the Innovation and Valorisation Laboratory (CSOL-ICIQ). The researchers will work on the development of novel synthetic routes of a potential active pharmaceutical ingredient against incapacitating and lethal haemorrhages.


Responsibilities
• Design and execution of synthetic routes to provide target molecules
• Route optimization and scale-up of chemical processes
• Writing reports and delivering result presentations in group meetings
• Maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Complete documentation of results

Requirements
• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related field
• Proven track record in discovery and development of novel chemistry concepts
• Good knowledge of English (written and spoken)
• Strong commitment for scientific excellence
• Motivated, creative, and problem-solving individual capable of working independently as well as in a team
Valued qualities
• Experience in spiro compounds synthesis and asymmetric catalysis
• Experience in crystallization of small molecules
• Use of analytical techniques for characterization of chemical compounds (GC, HPLC, NMR, MS, IR, UV, DSC, TGA, X-Ray, etc.)
• Good communication skills

We offer
• A full-time employment contract for the length of the project (expected end date Sep 2026).
• Remuneration according to individual’s qualifications/experience.
• Annual salary split in twelve monthly payments.
