EoIs for ARAID permanent research positions at INMA

The Aragonese Foundation for Research & Development (ARAID) has opened an International Call for the Recruitment of Researchers to work at public or private research institutes based in the Spanish region of Aragón. Candidates have to submit their applications through one of these research institutes. The successful candidates will be offered a full-time permanent position.

The Aragon Nanoscience and Materials Institute (INMA), a joint research centre between the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Zaragoza, is looking for young, motivated candidates to apply to this call and set up their own research group at INMA in any of the following topics:

1. Materials research & development for medical technologies and advanced therapies
2. Materials research & development for industrial decarbonization and energy transition
3. Materials science for biotechnology
4. Quantum technologies, photonic technologies and microelectronics
5. Artificial intelligence for materials science*
6. 2D Materials: Synthesis, Characterization and Applications
7. Advanced characterization of bio-materials or soft-materials at the nanoscale

Applicants are encouraged to propose innovative and interdisciplinary research projects that align with INMA’s core research areas. Successful proposals should demonstrate a strong connection to INMA's mission to advance knowledge in nanoscience and materials science, addressing fundamental scientific questions while contributing to societal challenges including - but not limited to - sustainability, renewable energy, and healthcare.

Research proposals should also consider their alignment with strategic technologies, missions, and societal challenges identified in the EU Framework Program. Applicants are expected to estimate the progression of the Technological Readiness Levels (TRLs) to be achieved during the first three years, specifically in cases of obtaining an ARAID contract, indicating the initial and final TRLs targeted by the proposal.

REQUIREMENTS
Candidates are required to have 6 or more years of postdoctoral experience at the end of the ARAID application submission deadline (March 14th, 2025), with at least 2 years of research residency in centers of recognized national and international prestige outside Aragon.

* As an exception to this rule, the panel for topic 5 (AI for materials science) will accept applicants with at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience (at the end of the application submission deadline), with at least 1 year of research residency in recognized prestige, national and international outside Aragon.
