Grant Project Manager – National projects (Life Sciences)
Context And Mission
We are looking for a candidate to manage and coordinate the full life-cycle of research projects within BSC’s Project Management Office (PMO), with a primary focus on projects funded by national and regional funding schemes. The selected candidate will support BSC's Life Sciences Department, from the preparation of proposals to the execution and closing of projects, ensuring their alignment with strategic priorities. The candidate will report to the Senior Project Manager assigned to the Life Sciences Department.
Key Duties
Funding Opportunities: Identify and proactively communicate funding opportunities across all schemes (regional, national, European, and international) aligned with BSC’s research strategy, with a focus on maximizing opportunities from national funding programs. Collaborate with research group leaders to establish and maintain a call calendar for efficient proposal planning.
Proposal Management: Lead the development of project proposals for funding programs of all levels, with a particular emphasis on national and regional programs. Focus on management sections and coordinate contributions on governance, budgets, and resources. Support researchers during the preparation process to enhance the quality of submissions, ensuring compliance with administrative and eligibility requirements.
Project Coordination: Monitor the implementation of ongoing projects, including resource planning, timeline tracking, and budgeting. Organize and participate in project-related meetings, reviews, and events. Prepare and submit high-quality reports for funding agencies, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and funding requirements.
Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and signing of legal agreements, including Consortium Agreements, NDAs, and funding contracts. Liaise with BSC legal services, researchers, and external stakeholders to protect BSC’s interests.
General Support: Provide administrative support for project implementation, maintain project databases, and organize meetings and events. Collaborate with the PMO team to improve internal processes. Develop strong relationships with research group leaders and other stakeholders to help them achieve their objectives.
Requirements
Education
University degree, with interdisciplinary backgrounds considered an asset.
Additional training in project management or proposal preparation is a plus.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
At least two years’ experience in research project management, especially in Spanish and Catalan funding schemes.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Demonstrated expertise in preparing collaborative proposals for public and private funders, across different funding levels.
Proven experience in managing projects funded by regional, national, European, and international schemes.
Ideal candidates will have experience in projects funded by national and regional schemes.
Competences
Fluency in Spanish is essential; English proficiency is required; Catalan is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience interacting with diverse stakeholders at research and managerial levels.
Willingness to travel when required.
Autonomous, proactive, and capable of working under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
Advanced knowledge of competitive research funding landscapes, including regional, national, and European opportunities, and transversal research aspects such as ethics, open science, gender dimension, and innovation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
