Lab Manager for the Stem Cell and Cancer (ref. LAB/24/03)
We are looking for a highly motivated Lab Manager with experience to support the Stem Cells and Cancer Laboratory. The Stem Cell and Cancer group headed by Salvador Aznar Benitah aims at understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the spatiotemporal regulation of adult stem cells in the healthy tissue, and how these are deregulated during ageing and cancer.
The Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) is an independent, non-profit research institution engaged in basic and applied biomedical science. It is located in the Barcelona Science Park (Parc Científic de Barcelona, PCB), a center in which first-class public research converges with the private sector in a stimulating, vanguard scientific environment. IRB Barcelona was founded in October 2005 by the Government of Catalonia, the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Barcelona Science Park, and is administrated through a private foundation. The Institute currently has 470 members (scientific, technical and administrative staff) and plans to grow significantly in the coming years.
DUTIES:
To manage the lab (purchasing, organization of consumables, importing/exporting of mice, etc).
To present projects to the Ethical Committee for Animal Research.
To regularly meet with the PI to organize the funds available in the lab.
To act as a liason between the lab and the IRB Administration.
The possibility of also collaborating scientifically in some projects of the laboratory.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
Candidate must have several years of experience as a lab manager.
Experience in animal handling, animal experimentation is a must. Candidates that do not fulfill this pre-requisite please abstain from applying.
Background in molecular biology.
Highly independent, motivated, and collaborative person
Good organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently
Good level in English
