The mission of the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) is to achieve the highest level of scientific and technological excellence in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Its research lines focus on the newly-discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the behaviour of matter at the nanoscale. ICN2 has been awarded with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence distinction for three consecutive periods (2014-2018 and 2018-2022 and 2023-2026). ICN2 comprises 20 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Job Title: Scientific content writer and promoter

Research area or group: Marketing & Communication

Description of Group/Project: The MAX Centre of Excellence (currently funded for the period 2023-2026) provides the European materials simulation community with simulation codes which are able to unleash the huge computational capabilities offered by the latest massively parallel heterogeneous computing systems and leverage these disruptive technologies to tackle scientific challenges in the materials science domain.

The profile hired to manage the communication needs of this European project will be embedded within the ICN2 Marketing and Communication Department, a lively team dealing with internal and external communication of ICN2.

MaX is Funded by the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) under grant agreement No 101093374, by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 grant PCI2022-134972-2, and by the European Union NextGenerationEU/PRTR.

Main Tasks and responsibilities:

Writing and editing texts of primarily scientific nature (in the domain areas of materials science, supercomputing, excascale computing technologies, and related fields) for news items, press releases, dissemination activities and institutional reports defined within the MaX CoE proposal.
Producing and updating web and print-based promotional materials.
Active role in the design, promotion & celebration of training/scientific MaX events.
Supporting the creation of dissemination activities and educational materials.
Nurturing and coordinating a community of communicators from the MaX nodes to ensure an effective internal and external communication.
Requirements:

Education: A higher education degree (Bachelor, Master or PhD) degree in an area related to MaX activities (Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science/Engineering, Computing Science/Engineering, etc).
Knowledge: Highly familiarised with Materials Science and High Performance Computing concepts and technologies.
Professional Experience: Previous scientific writing and science dissemination experience is required. Research experience in the field of Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry and/or Computin Science will be valued.
Personal Competences:
Writing skills.
Excellent English (native if possible).
Social networks management.
Team work.
Summary of conditions:

Full time work (37,5h/week)
Contract Length: 27 months
Location: Bellaterra (Barcelona)
Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience.
Support to the relocation issues.
