Context And Mission

The BSC communication team’s mission is to publicize the BSC and its activity through the center's own channels (web, social networks, corporate communication materials, visits to MareNostrum supercomputer etc), the media and the organization and participation in activities and events to strengthen the public awareness and understanding of science and technology. It also manages the internal communication of the center.

Within this context, we are seeking a Strategic communication initiatives & corporate brand manager to strategically create, implement, and oversee communications activities that effectively promote the mission, vision, values, and work of the organisation. The selected candidate will manage a team of approximately 8 professionals working on digital content and social media, scientific communication materials and storytelling, web and graphic design and audiovisual and multimedia content.

The role requires a strong balance of communication and team leadership, strategic planning and collaboration skills.

This position will report directly to the Head of Communications.

Key Duties

- Coordinate communications for strategic initiatives, that support corporate growth, reputation, and transformation goals, ensuring alignment across the organization and impact.
- Design, implement, and manage communication campaigns across relevant channels, defining objectives, target audiences, messaging, and timelines. Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate effectiveness and optimize future campaigns.
- Oversee and implement the overall digital communication strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with the corporate events team to ensure events deliver cohesive brand experiences and impact.
- Contribute to corporate storytelling across thought leadership, corporate campaigns, and flagship initiatives. Gather information for impact stories.
- Develop innovative and audience-focused communication materials that drive engagement and impact.
- Management and maintenance of corporate brand, ensuring visual identity standards and its correct application across all media and channels.
- Coordination of design and production of corporate material (brochures, leaflets, banners, posters, templates, etc.).
- Use analytical tools to evaluate reach, engagement, and positioning, and prepare periodic reports for decision-making and improvements.
- Serve as a key liaison between communications and external parners, agencies, and collaborators as required.

Requirements

Education
- Bachelor degree in communications, journalist or technological field. Master or postgraduate qualifications will be considered.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Five years+ of experience in corporate communications, brand management, or strategic communications roles. Experience in science and technology communication will be a plus.
- Proven experience leading complex, high-visibility communications initiatives.
- Proven experience in team management.
- A deep understanding of corporate & stakeholder communications and reputation management is essential.

Conditions

- The position will be located at BSC within the Management Department
- We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
- Holidays: 22 days of holidays + 6 personal days + 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
- Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona

Applications procedure and process

- A cover/motivation letter with a statement of interest in English, clearly specifying for which specific area and topics the applicant wishes to be considered. Additionally, two references for further contacts must be included. Applications without this document will not be considered.

Development of the recruitment process

The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición"). The recruitment process consists of two phases:

- Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 points
- Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.

The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people, ensuring at least 25% representation of women.

In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.

The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.
