The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The role

The Systems Architect will be responsible for the correct management of the IT systems hardware, software and cloud resources, and for defining, in coordination with the IT Manager, the list of IT Infrastructure services provided to the community and its corresponding Service Level Agreement, coordinating and supervising the hardware, software and cloud service installation / configuration, maintenance, operation and monitoring, in terms of high service quality, efficiency and costs saving.

He/she will work in collaboration with the Head of IT to design and maintain the IT architecture in place in the CRG and to maintain the cybersecurity of the CRG.

He/she will supervise the systems administration teams to coordinate the tasks and keep the right operation of the equipment, software and services.


The main responsibilities are:
Definition of the IT Architecture in place in the CRG
Definition of possible improvements of the current services
Definition and implementation of new services
Implementation of IT processes in order to automatize the work done by the different teams of the IT department
Management of Systems Administration team
Direct management, indirect management or participation in the CRG projects where IT is involved
Supervision of the Systems Administration SLA
Reporting of Systems Administration tasks, incidences and change management
Collaboration in the Systems Administration tasks
Management of the current IT services available in the CRG
Management of the IT infrastructure available in the CRG
Administration of the current cloud services used by the CRG
Management of the Cybersecurity tasks
Resolution of incidences that can affect the IT services and escalation to the external suppliers if needed

About the department

The IT Department is responsible for providing IT services to over 500 users (employees or collaborators) located in Barcelona Biomedical Research Park – PRBB. The department is divided into 3 areas: the Helpdesk team - responsible for the direct support to the user, the Systems Administration team - in charge of administrating all the IT systems and the Web team - responsible of the web development and support.

Whom would we like to hire?
Professional experience
Must Have

You have a minimum of five years of experience in a similar job position
You have a bachelor's degree in computing, Telecommunications, or similar degree
You have experience in Windows, Mac OS and Unix operating systems, Unified Communication platform (Exchange, Skype for Business, SharePoint), Microsoft Active Directory, ADFS, ISA Server, proxies, network, WIFI, SDN and Firewalls, SAN and NAS storage platforms
You have experience in standard web environment (Apache, Tomcat, IIS)
You have experience in Office 365 cloud services
You have experience in management and monitoring tools (Nagios, Centreon, Cacti, Microsoft Systems Center)

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have
You have a minimum of one year of experience in team management
You have knowledge of ERP systems

Languages
You have an advanced level of Spanish and English
You have a good level of Catalan

The Offer – Working Conditions
Contract duration: Permanent contract
Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales
Target start date: September 1st, 2024

Selection Process

Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise reflected on the candidates CVS. It will be merit-based.
Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and a selection panel if required.
