The NANOPTO group at ICMAB is searching a physics/nanotechnology graduate or an engineer to work with them in the design and fabrication of photonic crystal.
This project is oriented to the improvement of a silicon photomultiplier by the design and fabrication of a photonic crystal, based on strong interference effects. The project involves: (1) Modeling and design of the photonic crystal to maximize the light trapped inside the disk. (2) Fabrication of the photonic architectures using physical deposition techniques. (3) Optical characterization of the final trap and implementation in real photodetectors.
