Outreach Technician

The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
In the framework of our Centre for Excellence Severo Ochoa Programme (CEX2023-001290-S), we are seeking an Outreach technician to join our Scientific Culture Unit (UCC+i) who is interested in taking over and managing activities of ISGlobal outreach department.

ISGlobal's Scientific Culture Unit (UCC+i) promotes access to scientific knowledge and social interest in science through science outreach and education, participation and citizen science around our institution's scientific research. This unit has been established and consolidated in parallel with the commitment to excellence in global health research. Using formal and non-formal methods, it works to ensure a bridge between research and society and to promote an active role for citizens in the generation of knowledge.

This position will be supported by funding from the “Centro de Excelencia Severo Ochoa 2024-2028” Program (CEX 2023-0001290-S) from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, and the Spanish Research State Agency (MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordination of the Severo Ochoa outreach program.
- Coordinate outreach activities and support to ISGlobal researchers.
- Coordinate activities for teachers, scholars and the general public.
- Develop educational materials.
- Active participation in the coordination of the outreach projects ensuring an optimal development of the deliverables and outputs defined in the projects.
- Collaborate in projects with a high component of education and gender issues.
- Collaborate with other outreach managers or technicians from SOMMa alliance.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Active participation in the design and execution of different communication/outreach activities and interaction with partners.
- Participate in the writing of the reports and materials requested by the Severo Ochoa program, and others activities related to it.
- Collaborate in the European INCLUDE project.
- Identify funding opportunities and take part in the design of new proposals.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Training and experience: Have a Science degree. Scientific background and good experience in the design and execution of outreach and communication activities.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in an Outreach Department.
- Previous experience in preparing national or European projects.

LANGUAGE LEVEL
- Proficiency in Catalan, English and Spanish.

CONDITIONS
- Duration: 8 months
- Starting date: May 2026
- Contract Type: Part time (30 hours per week)
- Salary: 30.656€ gross annual
