ICN2 comprises 20 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Job Title: Research Support technician – Experimental Quantum Optoelectronics and Terahertz Spectroscopy
Department: Ultrafast Dynamics in Nanoscale Systems
Description of Group/Project: The Ultrafast Dynamics in Nanoscale Systems Group investigates the fundamental properties of emerging quantum materials using advanced optical and electronic characterization techniques. This position will support a research line focused on optoelectronics in two-dimensional materials and moiré superlattices. The research combines quantum transport measurements, ultrafast terahertz spectroscopy, and device engineering to explore novel quantum phenomena and develop photonic and optoelectronic concepts for future quantum technologies.
The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects aimed at understanding light–matter interactions in low-dimensional quantum systems through terahertz photocurrent measurements and electronic transport studies. The position also involves supporting the fabrication of high-quality nanodevices in cleanroom facilities.
Main Tasks and responsibilities:
1) Support the design, assembly, maintenance, and optimization of experimental setups for terahertz photocurrent and quantum transport measurements.
2) Perform electrical and optoelectronic characterization of nanodevices based on two-dimensional materials and moiré superlattices.
3) Assist in cryogenic, low-noise electronic, and ultrafast spectroscopy experiments.
4) Carry out device fabrication processes in cleanroom facilities, including lithography, thin-film deposition, etching, and related micro/nanofabrication techniques.
5) Contribute to the development of experimental instrumentation, automation routines, and laboratory infrastructure.
6) Acquire, organize, curate, and maintain experimental datasets and laboratory records.
7) Develop and test prototypes of measurement systems, electronic circuits, and experimental tools required for research activities.
8)Support PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in experimental measurements and troubleshooting.
9)Participate in data analysis, interpretation of experimental results, and preparation of internal reports and scientific publications.
10)Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and good scientific practices.
Requirements:
• Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Nanoscience, Photonics, or a related discipline to be completed before start date
