A study reveals the first galactic population of gamma-ray emitting protostars

Nature Astronomy has published a study, led by the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC), revealing the existence of a new population of forming stars capable of producing gamma rays. The results show that the jets emitted by these protostars act as efficient proton accelerators, making them a new laboratory for studying cosmic rays.
