The study focuses on GSN 069, a galaxy known for being the first source in which quasi-periodic eruptions (QPEs) were identified—brief, energetic bursts of X-rays associated with a supermassive black hole. The Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC) is participating in this work, which uses optical light polarization for the first time to reconstruct the past activity of the nucleus of a galaxy with QPEs.
