ICIQ hosts the 30th Fèlix Serratosa Conference

Institut Català d’Investigació Química (ICIQ) was one of the venues for the 30th edition of the Félix Serratosa Conference, a meeting for the chemical community jointly organized by the Real Sociedad Española de Química (RSEQ) and the Societat Catalana de Química (SCQ).

This year’s event, marking its 30th edition, took place on 26 and 27 February 2026 between Barcelona and Tarragona. After a first day at the Universitat de Barcelona, the conference moved to ICIQ headquarters, where the second session of the scientific programme was held.

The meeting was opened by Prof. Rubén Martín, group leader at ICIQ and ICREA professor, who welcomed the researchers and participating students from different research centers.

The keynote speaker was Prof. Véronique Gouverneur from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), who presented the lecture entitled “Fluorination under Hydrogen Bonding Phase-transfer Catalysis.”

This edition also featured a contribution from Prof. Martín Fañanás-Mastral, who the previous day gave a talk at the University of Barcelona entitled “Catalytic Functionalization of Simple Hydrocarbons.”

The Félix Serratosa Conference is held annually in tribute to Professor Fèlix Serratosa, a key figure in organic synthesis in Catalonia and Spain, and aims to promote the exchange of knowledge and collaboration among leading research centers.
