The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is one of the key partners in REDONGRA, the new Spanish Network of Gravitational Wave Physics. The initiative brings together 20 research institutions to coordinate Spain’s contribution to gravitational wave science.

The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is one of the 23 partners from eight EU member states in SUPREME, a new European project selected under the Chips Joint Undertaking to establish pilot lines for the industrial production of superconducting quantum chips.

Gravitational waves from massive black holes challenge current astrophysical models. IFAE is part of the LIGO and Virgo collaborations and contributes to gravitational wave research through data analysis and detector development.

On July 16, the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, and the Minister of Education, Pilar Alegría, presided over the official award ceremony for the 2024 Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu Centers and Units of Excellence in Zaragoza.
