On Saturday, November 9, the Institut de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2) hosted the closing ceremony for Bojos per la Física, an advanced physics program organized by IFAE, ICN2, and Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera.
“Search for a heavy charged Higgs boson decaying into a W boson and a Higgs boson in final states with leptons and b-jets in s√=13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector”
A complex analysis of DESI’s first year of data provides one of the most stringent tests yet of general relativity and how gravity behaves at cosmic scales. IFAE, ICCUB, CIEMAT, ICE-CSIC and IFT have played a significant role in achieving these important results.
IFAE has joined the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, strengthening its contributions to international gravitational wave research using terrestrial interferometry.
Tamara Vázquez Schröder has been awarded the ATRAE 2024 grant to address some of the most pressing unanswered questions in particle physics, through precision measurements and searches using data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
IFAE gamma-ray astronomy researcher Cosimo Nigro has joined the UAB Physics Department Faculty as Lecturer (Professor Lector) in the High Energy Physics Unit (Unitat de Física d’Altes Energies). Cosimo had already been teaching in the Department as a Teaching Associate (Professor Associat) during his postdoctoral stay at IFAE.
On the 16th and 17th of September was held in Paris the kick-off meeting for the Astrophysics Centre for Multimessenger studies in Europe – ACME. IFAE and PIC participate leading the improvement of transnational access to the MAGIC telescopes.
