CREAF is a public research center in terrestrial ecology, global change and earth observation, pursuing excellence in knowledge generation, methodological development, innovation, transfer, training, and dissemination. The center aims to contribute to the knowledge, conservation and management of natural environment and territory, and to the adaptation to environmental changes at a local, regional and global level, encouraging the link between the academic world, administrations and society, and setting guidelines in its scopes of action.
CREAF’s Governing Council is composed by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the University of Barcelona (UB), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC).
CREAF’s overarching objective throughout its 30-year existence has been to progress towards excellence in generating new conceptual and methodological tools for the conservation, management and adaptation of the environment to global change.
