CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.
Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops, and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://www.cragenomica.es).
The position is conceived as a scientific leadership role in Genomics with responsibility for the development, strategic orientation and scientific consolidation of the GENOMICS Platform as a core research infrastructure of the Centre. The successful candidate will provide high-level scientific leadership, contributing decisively to the integration of genomics into CRAG’s competitive research programmes and to the advancement of analytical strategies in plant and agricultural genomics.
ROLE:
The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a highly qualified individual to fill the role of Genomics Platform Manager to oversee the management and optimization of CRAG’s Genomics platforms, ensuring the efficient operation of the genomics facility. The Genomics Platform Manager will collaborate closely with researchers across diverse projects as well as with CRAG Director to develop and execute strategic initiatives aimed at continuously improving the platforms by implementing state‑of‑the‑art methodologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for coordinating and leading the Genomics services.
• Help define CRAG’s strategy to apply the latest technologies in plant and animal genomics.
• Keep up to date with the latest technological advances and advise researchers on the best existing experimental approaches.
• Provide support to CRAG researchers by operating the equipment and contributing to the set-up of omics methodologies, and troubleshooting assistance. This equipment include Real-Time qPCRs, Long-read sequencers, Single-cell library preparation, Nucleic acid quantification among others.
• Engage in contracts with companies.
• Coordinate contracts involving different services: Plant Growth Facility, Genomics, Bioinformatics.
• Provide support to the Purchasing Department in defining strategies for using sequencing services within the framework of public procurement law. Engage in collaborations with governmental Catalan Departments.
REQUIREMENTS:
• PhD in molecular biology, genomics or a similar area.
• Hands-on experience in managing and operating equipment for genomic analysis: quality control of DNA and RNA samples, library preparation for single cell and long read sequencing, and high throughput genotyping or gene expression analyses.
• Previous experience in a related position is a plus.
• Familiarity with non-profit sector.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in at least Spanish and English.

Working conditions:
• Permanent position
• Working day: Full 37.5 hours/week.
• Remuneration: depending on the experience and qualifications provided and framed within the salary structure of CRAG.
