The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is looking for a physician specialized in international health and travel medicine to coordinate and manage the recruitment of participants for a study, within the framework of a European project, to be carried out from the international health service of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona.
The overall project goal is to support the European and global response to the COVID-19 pandemic and VOCs by developing and pooling well characterised COVID-19 cohorts with sufficient genomic information worldwide and linking these with existing European and international initiatives. Thus, collaborating with the public health authorities of the countries of origin by taking advantage of our existing partnership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the execution of research studies (ENDVOC), ensuring adherence to good clinical practices (GCP) and high-quality patient management.
- Engage in participant recruitment and follow-up for research studies in the travel clinic (ENDVOC).
- Provide specialized care to patients at the Travel Clinic of Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, with a focus on febrile illnesses and respiratory infections in travelers and migrants.
- Lead and participate in research projects related to infectious diseases, travel medicine, and global health, with a specific emphasis on febrile and respiratory illnesses.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Medical Doctor (MD) specialized in Internal Medicine or Primary Care.
- Experience and expertise in global health, infectious diseases, and/or travel medicine.
- Capacity of managing patients in hospital/emergency environment will be positively evaluated.
- Clinical and research experience in fever syndromes and respiratory infections.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) and Spanish / Catalan.
LANGUAGE LEVEL
- Proficiency in English and Spanish.
CONDITIONS
- Duration: 6 months (potentially extendable)
- Starting date: 05/05/2025
- Contract Type: Part time (20 hours per week)
- Salary: Medical Research Fellow B (42.771€ gross annual)
