European Astroparticle Physics (APPEC) announces the successful finalization of the Mid-Term Update for its 2017-2026 strategy, revealing on-track progress with adjustments and emerging goals. The LST Collaboration reported the detection of OP 313 at very high energies with the LST-1, marking the telescope’s first scientific discovery and making OP 313 the most distant Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) ever detected by a Cherenkov telescope.

Last Friday started “Bojos per la Ciència”, the educational program from Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera. IFAE coordinates the Bojos per la física together with ICN2 and in collaboration with ICFO, Alba, UAB, ICMAB…, engaging students in Physics activities. IFAE Postdoc researcher Monica Seglar from the Gamma-ray and the GW groups gave an inspiring talk for all students in the inauguration.

The measurement obtained fixes the scale of the universe when it was half its present age with an accuracy of 2%, the most accurate ever obtained for that time. Researchers from IFAE, CIEMAT, ICE-CSIC, and IFT have led the scientific analysis of the data.

The first pre-production triplet module for the ATLAS upgrades for the LH-LHC has been assembled this week at IFAE. The IFAE ATLAS Pixels group is building modules for the innermost pixel layer of the tracking detector (ITk) and the new high granularity timing detector (HGTD).
